Most people try so hard to change their lives by fixing everything on the outside, while the more important qualities slow fall apart on the inside.
One of the most important aspects we should focus on within our lives is our character. Character simply means being tried and approved. It is a virtue that reveals one’s uniqueness from another. Character is made up of those rare qualities that you possess on the inside. It is those moral attributes or ethics by which we live that define us as individuals. Even though character is incredibly important, it is unfortunately a subject that very few are willing to address. Nevertheless, let’s take a look at what God says about character.
BUT [as for] you, teach what is fitting and becoming to sound (wholesome) doctrine [the character and right living that identify true Christians] (Titus 2:1 AMP).
The work of each [one] will become [plainly, openly] known (shown for what it is); for the day [of Christ] will disclose and declare it, because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test and critically appraise the character and worth of the work each person has done (1 Corinthians 3:13 AMP).
All has been heard; the end of the matter is: Fear God [revere and worship Him, knowing that He is] and keep His commandments, for this is the whole of man [the full, original purpose of his creation, the object of God’s providence, the root of character…] (Ecclesiastes 12:13 AMP).
If you were to ask any single man or woman what they are honestly looking for in a life partner, the vast majority would begin with saying something about good looks, shape and size, color of hair, and other physical attributes. Their focus would be about what they could see on the outside. But the truth is, in time, gravity will suck all that beauty downward. Even so, very few will say that they are looking for a person with godly character. Yet godly character will last much longer than any type of beauty will.
